The Flag

The flag of Mars symbolises Mars’s three proudest possessions. The Martian head represents the freedom of the LGM’s (Little Green Men), the two circles represent the Martian moons ; Phobos and Deimos and the Martian landscape with the mountain on it represents Olympus Mons the Solar systems largest volcano*.

The History of Mars

The Mariner 9 was the first space craft from earth to visit Mars although it didn’t land on Mars it still served a purpose. If the Mariner 9 hadn’t made humans curious to find out more about Mars the Vikings (later space crafts) might not have landed on Mars in 1976. If they hadn’t landed there would be no photos to inspire Herbert Schweitz (creator of life on Mars) to try and create life on Mars.

Herbert Schweitz discovered a type of bacteria capable of living on Mars, he sent them to Mars in 2054 to see if they could start life. However in 2030 some cosmonauts had secretly been bribed into smuggling nuclear waste to Mars. This had a huge impact on Herbert’s experiment, the bacteria did not get destroyed as it would have on Earth but the atmosphere on Mars caused to instead mutate fast and within 2 years some primitive life-forms resembling dinosaurs roamed Mars. After 5 years green creatures with tentacles and 4 reptile like legs that were as clever as, if not cleverer than Humans. After 7 years they formed a planet-wide civilization much like the ancient Egyptians. The Humans began to fear the little green men, as they called them, what if they outgrow us they thought so they used their technology to destroy the waste the nuclear waste completely and permanently, it was not easy for the Martians at that time revered the waste and wished to find out what it was, but in the end the Humans succeeded.

After 2 years the effect of the waste disappeared from the Martian genes and they started developing at a normal pace, at this time they were at the same stage in technology as the Humans, so the Humans decided to meet the Martians and make interplanetary laws so that no Wars would start between the two planets.

Climate and Culture

In the winter Mars can get as cold as -191°C but in the summer the temperature sometimes rises (in the hottest parts of Mars) to 25°C. The LGM’s (Little Green Men) have adapted to this and need no special clothing, but Humans should wear a space suit with

an insulation mechanism which can be turned on and off , this way you can keep warm when it is cold on Mars. Planet-wide dust storms sometimes cover Mars, therefore it is advised to have a storm-proof spacesuit.
The Martian Culture is very like that on earth but the inhabitants of Mars speak alienese (although some also speak English). Please note that in alienese “hello” is an offensive word and is not taken too kindly. The worst accident caused by someone saying hello occurred when 2120 when a LGM strangled 20 men in a fight after he passed a group greeting each other.

Hotels, bed and breakfast, camping

There are 3 ways for a tourist on Mars to shelter. One of them is staying in a hotel, Space hotel is a beautiful five-star hotel which can be found in 3 places on Mars. It offers a room for 1 for ^4 ** a night, a room 2-3 for ^6 a night and a room for 4-5 for ^9 a night. The entire hotel is fitted with a machine to keep the temperature under control, an atmosphere machine and an airlock in front of every door and window.

The second option is in a rented cabin in a holiday park. The Koka Una Holiday Park has four sites on Mars. It also has a controlled temperature and atmosphere and an airlock on the exits, a possible disadvantage to them compared to the hotels is the fact that the windows don’t open but to make up for that, the cabins offers more space and has an underground tunnel to the closest cities car park, bus station, train station, taxi- pickup bays and car rental. The price is ^10 a week in the winter but ^14 in the summer.

The third choice is camping. If you decide to go camping there are camping sites on Mars or you could go in the wild. For either of these choices it is advised that you use a tent with an atmosphere and temperature machine. There are 2 sites on Mars one in North-Mars and one in South-Mars. The camping site in the north is called Rres De Kio and the one in the south is called Lef De Gally. In these camping sites it costs ^6 to book 10m² of space. If you decide to camp in the wild you should choose your campsites carefully check for signs of dangerous plants and animals using the “dangerous plants and animals” section of this book.
